Buildings should belong to their surroundings and we achieve this by using natural materials at
every opportunity. Our designs are 'organic' in form, in order to respond to the nature of
individual sites, by maximising natural light and respecting the existing landscape.
Our architecture is strongly but appropriately contemporary in appearance. It derives from
our development of innovative, sustainable solutions to modern design issues. We believe
that we should build as a testament to our own age and as an inspiration to the future,
through an understanding the past.
We integrate the 'engineering' of our buildings with sensitivity, in the belief that all parts
should be well crafted with flair and visual interest.
We have a collective responsibility to look after our planet. Architecture in particular is vital
in this commitment to sustainability, in terms of embodied and consumed energy but also in the
designing of places that 'remain' and 'belong'. A truly sustainable architecture is one that
endures time and fashion; touching the earth lightly.

At Gledhill Walker Architects we have four basic principles of work: contextual, contemporary, considered and conscious. With these principles in mind we apply vision and precision across the entire design process, with each part belonging to a conceptual theme whilst simultaneously serving its own intended purpose.
